Currently on my hooks......

Hello blogland and I hope you are having a super Saturday. Mine is starting out slow and I'm happy to see it stays that way. We go, go, go all week with school, teaching, piano lessons, homework, cooking, laundry, and dinners, its soooo nice not to have a schedule today. Am I right?

I have sorely missed updating my blog with the current little whatnots that I always seem to have on my hooks. You know me, unless there are 2-3 projects going my crochet ADD needs are just not being met so with further ado, here are some of my current WIPs and FOs:

I showed you the makings of one of these lil guys a few weeks back and here one is. I've currently made three and a pig, but they've all been snatched out of my grasp before I could even get a pic.
I am working on these two scarves. The first is a Harry Potter scarf for my middle DS. Halloween is fast approaching and he decided on HP. He will be really cute and I'm glad I finally get to crochet a costume part. The second is from a free pattern I picked up at Michael's a few weeks back. It's a really mindless pattern but look at how cute the stitch close-up is. Looks like I'm really doing something fancy, doesn't it. I am using the Michael brand yarn too...Impeccable from Loops and Threads.

Enjoy this beautiful Autumn day, your family, and your friends........

Wip Wednesday

Crocheting(and knitting!) ADD
This time of year my cup runneth over. It's filled with friends, festivities, and projects! I seem to jump from one to another. So not like me, for those of you who follow, I am a finisher. I start, at the max 3 projects, and then complete each one, before moving on to the next great thing, so this has flustered me. Here's a peek at some of the madness...

White scarf and hat set for my niece in Colorado....done!
"Baby its cold outside snowman" free pattern form the 'ville...not done....

Six of my Santa ornaments I designed this year, gifts for my co-workers, done!

I also dusted off my knitting needles and started, completed the Loopy scarf from Patons. I am wanting to make a matching hat for it too. maybe the one button Banana Republic knock-off. I also downloaded a felted beret from Ravelry. I am anxious to start my first felting project. My sis is doing the same project from her home down north of Wichita, so we'll have to compare notes as we go - kind of a sister crochet-a-long. Here are the first 2 rows of the beret:

Here is a close up of the yarn I used for the loopy scarf:
Here is a shot of the entire scarf...done!
There you have it, a little of this and that. I can't wait to show you more "Done"! :-)

Oh, I almost forget DH got my Trans-Siberian Orchestra tickets for my b-day. The concert is tonight...can't wait!!!

A whole lot of something!!!!

Hi all! Although the blog may have been a little quiet since spring break, you know my mind and hands are always at work. Let me give you a gander at some of the latest.......

My mom was in the hospital two weeks ago and I sent her this to keep her company. It did the job fabulously. My MIL went in for surgery on Friday and she got one too.

I made these two scarves with some embroidered and bling embellishment. I'm thinking of opening an Esty store and selling them. My next idea is to make some college-themed or pro-sport ones. What do you think? Even if you don't regularly leave a comment, would you mind weighing in?

This is my final brain-child of the week and it's still in progress. Let's just say its based on a very popular toy with the tween crowd right now.

Finally, music afghan update, its slow going, but going!

We finally have beautiful spring weather here today in the heartland. Devin has baseball practice and my Dh got asked to the prom so we'll be dress shopping. maybe I can sneak a picture and let you preview the dress.
Happy Easter! Feliz Pascuas!

El brek de espring esta aqui! (Spring Break is here!)

Hello blog buddies. The sky is gray, the ground wet, the temps are cold, and the air is dank....but I'm officially on Spring Break!!!! WoooHoooo! My DS came home from the university for the week, I have all my "chicks" in the same henhouse again.

I have a few things I've been dabbling in....

First I finished the Floaty Fall scarf from fall's 2009 Crochet Today. I didn't add the last row because I was working with stash yarn and ran out, but I still love it.

I have also been working on this Sea Shells scarf, the pattern is so easy to memorize and then its a mindless crochet in front of the TV and the results....spectacular. I have one row left to do around the entire scarf and then I am going to block it so the shapes are crisp.

Our music teacher is retiring from teaching this spring and I was at a complete loss at what to get her. She has been teaching for over 30 years, has been a great teacher, and a dear friend even though I've only worked with her for the last 3 years. I ordered this Music Note Afghan pattern form Chella's Crochet. It's working up fast and I think its the best gift for her. Gold watches or glass paperweights just are not going to cut it.

Poor bear! She doesn't like the Sea Shells scarf as much as I do........

Some of this and that.......

Hi everybody! as you know my hook is never still, but the fingers at my key board have been idle. I always forget how busy autumn is; school, grades, parent/teacher conferences, Halloween, Thanksgiving, X-Mas, Brett' wedding(nephew). Whew! It's a wonder I'm getting time tonite!

Here is the hat and scarf I sent to a buddy at the "ville in a swap over there.

Just my own Half-Dc scarf pattern with curly "Q" finge and the hat is from Crochet Today last year.

Here is what I recieved from my partner:

A beautifun scarf9gotta find out the pattern!!), the leftover yarn(yippee!), a Crochet World mag. from 1990(so cooool), a chocolate bar, a crocheted bookmark and 2 more project books from Red Heart. Thanks suellen!

This week in fiber.....

DH and I got date night last night(Many thanks to MIL) and we went and saw "Whiteout". It was ok, but it was just nice to be out with my BFFF and hubby. This morning Trenton and I were up early to head to ball practice. I actually enjoying going out and sitting at his practicies. The temp. and sun are just perfect that early. I also sneaked some crochet time in. This is what I'm currently working on. It's the triangular scarf pattern form the latest issue of Crochet Today. I'm am using Bernat's satin sport even tho the pattern called for a cotton thread. I like the sheen I'm getting off this yarn aon this project.
I finished my Drop Stitch scarf from Ravalry. Since this was my LYS yarn and 100% wool, I did have to block it. I am very pleased with how this came out and plan on wearing it as soon as the weather turns a tad bit cooler.

I ate my tomatoe(the thing I've ever grown and eaten!!!) It was delicious. I've got 5 more on the vine, let's hope they turn before the first frost. LOL

Hello world!!!!!!

I know I've been MIA big time, but sometimes life gets in the way and it just can't be helped. We've just finished up our 3rd week of school here already and Labor Day for us, in this houshold; is truly a cherished day of rest and replenishment.

My 18 year old Austen appears to be survivng the first few weeks of university life. He has made it to all his classes and seems to be getting the hng of being on his own. I posted a pic of me presenting him with his afghan on my last post. He was thrilled with it. I got a picture of their dorm room and it was draped over a chair in plain view. High praise from a teenager!!! The cutest remark about it came from his roomate who exclaimed in disbelief; "You made that? From nothing?" We all had a good chuckle and I then explained to him how I did it. Austen is used to seeing me create things, but his roomate had never seen a homemade item.
Skylar and Austen

I haven't really tackled any big projects lately. I've been planning a few, day-dreaming about a few, but nothing has got my up on my hooks and needles yet.

I noticed Christina's post about her tomatoes and here's a pic of mine. Our plant has been battered, bruised, and almost died when it was a wee one, but here it is with 6 tomatoes in the wings. I hope they can get ripe before the first frost. LOL

I did treat myself to 2 skeins of LYS yarn. We have a shop near here that's not great, but it'll do when I need a fix of the "good stuff". It's a wool with a speckles of color through it. Here is the scarf I'm making from it. I got the pattern over at Ravalry, its called Drop Stitch scarf.

DH and I went and saw Julie&Julia last night. I was in heaven. Such a great escapist movie. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci just transport you to another time and place. 5 stars from me!!!

Hello to all and it's good to be back!!

Spring has come! Ha, ha!

It is 70 degrees here in Kansas today! Everyone is running around in shorts and t-shirts. The sun is out, its absolutely beautiful. A girlfriend brought her kids by this am and we had a play date. It was very relaxing to sit out on the patio and get some rays.

My niece has been in the hospital all week with some sort of blood infection. (very scary!) I whipped her up this dolly even though she is way past the dolly stage, but I thought she would like it. I enjoy working on a project with someone specific in mind because each stitch has a thought about them or for them in it. Silly, huh?

A scarf I completed. 3 rows of HDC one row of 3 HDC with a chain one, sk 1. add curly Q fringe.

2 new scarves and a night out!

My husband had a great idea for his folks' x-mas present. It was for an experience instead of a tangible gift. (And let's face it, who can think of somethng unique to give 70+ year olds. (I know, I know you're thinking....crochet 'em something and I did, this was my husband's gift to them. LOL)
He wanted to take them out to dinner at a nice resturant and let them tour the Plaza and see the lights here in KCMO. We ate at PF Chang's(MMMMMMMmmmmmmmm!) and then went for a stroll and then split a piece of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. That's where this pic was snapped. His folks really enjoyed the royal treatment and we had a good time too.
Here is the latest project. My famous HDC scarf with curly Q fringe with a matching hat from Yarnlovers pattern at the "Ville.

I was toying with granny squares and made this scarf. The weaving in of the ends was tremendous and now that ts done I think the colors I picked look a little too young for me. My daughter rejected it too as being too young. *Sigh*
