Easter baking.....

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you got a chance to enjoy your family and/or friends today.

Have you ever just had a hankering to bake? I can't really explain the feeling if you haven't ever experienced it, but this morning when I woke up....I just wanted to bake. I have had this recipe for bookmarked for awhile, so decided it was finally the day to roll up my sleeves and do it! She calls it a Loft house- style cookie, but my boys know them as those good cookies from Walmart, so apparently someone on either end of the coast(or the mid-section for that matter) has seen these and adapted them.(Maybe a copycat version?)

Anyway, here is the rolling of the dough, notice, my 2 1/2 inch round cookie cutter? it's actually the lid off of an applesauce jar, measuring exactly 2 1/2 inches.

Ahhhhh.....can you smell them yet? Here they cool on the rack.

Frosted glory!!!!!

My baking urge has subsided and now we have fresh cookies for our lunches all week long!

Now that I have committed to the wedding afghan here is a tidy little pile of squares......

See you soon, have a sublime Sunday!

Planning.....

My good friend is getting married this July. As you can imagine I was beside myself, thrilled for her and her soon-to-be hubby, and for ME! Ahem.....yes, ME! I get to crochet something big and beautiful them. A wedding afghan. It's been 9 months since I completed the Jay-hawker for DD. I've been waiting for the time to start the next Big One and here is my opportunity....finally. I have browsed and searched wedding afghans and realized not one of them is going to work. I have come up with my own design and I hope they like it.  I am going to do this block from this book: 200 Crochet Blocks,(block #16) I am still searching for a matching block and will let you know when it surfaces.

Full speed ahead!

What a busy, busy time thiese last few weeks have been. Job oppurtunities, kids leaving for college, school starting...whew. If life dosen't slow down; I'll need one of those neck supports, because I'll get whiplash watching my life whip by.

First things first.....Taylor my second child and only daughter left for the University of Kansas on Friday. We all went down and moved her in and lo and behold she called today and is doing well. Now mind you, she is only 32 miles away(it takes us about an hour to get door to door tho, traffic is terrible in that college town.)but it feels like a jillion. I miss her but am excited and so hopeful that she has a good experience and finds something she can be passionate about. Here is her afghan I made for her. Rock chalk! Jayhawk! Go KU!

Next my sister is about to become a grandmother for the first time and she also turns 50 this....she is in for a lot of changes. Hee! hee! So anyway here is the Baby Starghan I made my first great-niece(don't know if that's what I call her or not???)

Lastly,

I leave you with cute pics(at least to me! ) Of my 2 youngest on their and my first day of school.
Hope you had a super Sunday!

Slowly but surely......

Hi! Long time no blog because we blew our USB ports in our home PC so uploading pictures has been nil. I am working on my work laptop this weekend.

I have several projects going on, but can only post about this afghan. You may have seen it in earlier posts here and here. I am making progress, since it is a Christmas gift I guess the urgency hasn't kicked in yet. I have all the squares connected into strip and have 2 stiched together. I am very happy with the results so far. I sure hope my niece will like it. The colors match her room perfectly.

I love decorating for fall. Here is how my front doorstep turned out this year:

El brek de espring esta aqui! (Spring Break is here!)

Hello blog buddies. The sky is gray, the ground wet, the temps are cold, and the air is dank....but I'm officially on Spring Break!!!! WoooHoooo! My DS came home from the university for the week, I have all my "chicks" in the same henhouse again.

I have a few things I've been dabbling in....

First I finished the Floaty Fall scarf from fall's 2009 Crochet Today. I didn't add the last row because I was working with stash yarn and ran out, but I still love it.

I have also been working on this Sea Shells scarf, the pattern is so easy to memorize and then its a mindless crochet in front of the TV and the results....spectacular. I have one row left to do around the entire scarf and then I am going to block it so the shapes are crisp.

Our music teacher is retiring from teaching this spring and I was at a complete loss at what to get her. She has been teaching for over 30 years, has been a great teacher, and a dear friend even though I've only worked with her for the last 3 years. I ordered this Music Note Afghan pattern form Chella's Crochet. It's working up fast and I think its the best gift for her. Gold watches or glass paperweights just are not going to cut it.

Poor bear! She doesn't like the Sea Shells scarf as much as I do........

Project updates.......

Here is Brett and Nicole's wedding afghan. It's a 5 row repeat. It moves along fairly quickly. I do it when I need a break from following my Crochet by Numbers pattern. Here is my Crochet by Numbers pattern. It is going to be an afghan of my in-laws Jack Russell terrier.

Here is the first 12 rows so far.

Quiet Blog=Busy Hooks!

I know I've taken a short hiatus, but that doesn't mean my hook has! I have had crochet ADD lately. I want to sample a lot of projects, but none of them has quenched my thirst for crafting. So I will keep searching.

This is an afghan square I tried. It has a really cute flower in the middle. It cam out of an old Crochet Today magazine...maybe last spring?

My nephew is getting married in December and I started their gift. It's called "Wedding Afghan" and its in the fall issue of Crochet World. It's moving fast and I really think it'll be pretty. I was thinking white would go anywhere; thrown over a chair or corner of a bed.
Here is the pattern for the wedding afghan and the other is the pattern I sent off to Todd Paschall(Crochet by Numbers).
It is going to be for my in-laws, who are soooo hard to buy for and would much rather(or so they tell me...LOL) have something made by me. They are also crazy over their little dog, so I thought....why not? Wish me luck!!!! Below is the training pattern that you can get at Todd's website, so I finished my training and I should be ready to go. I'll buy yarn this weekend.
Miscellaneous Halloween ami ahead......(I told you I was a plethora......)
I packaged these ami's up for gifts.

Here's hoping your hooks are never still.......

Drumroll pu-leez!

Tah-Dah! What else can I say? It's done a full month before Austen leaves for school. I am proud I set a goal and accomplished it. I just hope it'll keep him warm wherever he falls asleep in his dorm room. Now I have to decide when to present it to him. I'm thinking maybe I'll just drape it on his new bed in his dorm before I leave, after moving him in.

Busy summer week!

Well, the younger guys both had baseball games tonight, so it was divide and conquer. Taylor and I took Trenton to his game(She got to drive!) Dad took Devin to his. The weather was soooo humid we just sat in piles of sweat, but the games were fun to watch.

Tennis lessons tomorrow, my yearly mammography tomorrow( my mom is a 22 year BC survivor....do your monthly check ups!), pool tomorrow. Can we get it all in? It's summer, of cours we shall prevail! LOL!

Friday, is the day I'm actually dreading the most this summer. My ex-husband and I are taking our oldest, Austen to his college orientation for the day. So picuture this; here is someone who I divorced more than 14 years ago and I have to ride with him and Austen; 2 and a half hours to Manhattan, KS where K-State is located. Then I have to sit with him all day through all the presentations. Next I have to eat lunch and dinner with him, finally I have to ride with him 2 and a half hours all the way back to KC. How I wish it was just Austen and me. What fun we would have. Anyways, I do want Austen to have a good time and enjoy exploring his university, so I will do my darndest to make it so.

Last but not least, KSU afghan update!!!!! Heh, heh, thought you were going to make clean get away, eh?

KSU afghan update!

Couldn't wait to show you how far I've gotten and this isn't even the latest! I'm about 5 rows farther than this now. I'm past the mid-way point. WooHoo! I'm actually quite proud of myslf.; not only did I teach myself a new skill, but I'm sticking to this project and I just know it'll be done by the time DS leaves for school in August.

KSU-graph 'ghan update

Well, there certainly is a learning curve for learning how to "graph-ghan" I frogged my first attempt after only 10 rows. I wasn't happy with some of my color changes and I have finally mastered bobbin usage and it really does help not to have 3-4 full skeins around the back of the afghan.

PokeBalls!

I had fun making these Pokeballs. The guys love 'em and have been carrying them around all day.
I also started work on Austen's K-State graph ghan.
This is a new skill for me so wish me luck. I've gotten a slow start because of my eyes! As some of you know I'm 44. I have always had perfect vision. But about 10 days ago(when I first started planning this ghan) My eyes started this horribly distracting twitching and aching. So I'd stop crocheting and go to the computer where it would continue. The only time they wouldn't bother me was when I was watching TV or teaching. Hmmmmmm....any ideas? I think the old age thing and my eyes have finally met up. So I took the graph of my son's ghan to the Kinko's near us and had them enlarge it 100x. I let you know if that works!

Kaelyn's blankie

The music teacher in our building just had a new granddaughter and I made this for her. She has already had a rough start with some health issues, so I worked in prayers every round. She seems to be getting better, so when I give this to her Nana on Monday I hope it will be a happy, snuggle blankie for her. I used Caron SS and it is cozy!

Oh and BTW, sandal "A" won the opinion poll. I like it best too. Thanks gals! Should I post my new work blouses too? LOL..JK!!!!
