Secret Pal Swap 2008

My package arrived from my secret pal. She is from Australia and I'm in awe and humbled by her generosity and intuition for picking out things that I'm going to love. Here's a picture of the entire package:

Here's one of my favorite things. My very own leapling!(Might have to find out where this pattern came from!)

A dishcloth Leisure Arts book! Can't wait to get started!

My very own scissors! These are mine all mine! Only a mom with kids can truly appreciate how much I'm going to enjoy always having my very own scissors. No more gluey and gummy Safe-T ones for me! LOL!

Look at all this yarn. It's wool and must be a brand from down under. I cna't wait to try it! I'm thinking some ami's or a FBB. Stay tuned I will post what I decide!

Souvenirs from Australia. My little boys love the magnetic kangaroo puzzle.

Assorted leaflets:

A daily planner:

A purse-size sewing kit:

A Leisure Arts book on accessories! Yippee!!! The cover scarf is already a WIP!

Many, many thanks to my "Aussie" pal. I appreciate all her time and energy into creating such a fun, thoughtful, and truly great surprise for me this Friday.

Secret Pal Swap

My secret pal recieved her package so I can finally post some of the things I made for her.

This is a hook holder that I made for her. I love this fabric and I lined it with felt, so her hooks would be cozy.

Kaelyn's blankie

The music teacher in our building just had a new granddaughter and I made this for her. She has already had a rough start with some health issues, so I worked in prayers every round. She seems to be getting better, so when I give this to her Nana on Monday I hope it will be a happy, snuggle blankie for her. I used Caron SS and it is cozy!

Oh and BTW, sandal "A" won the opinion poll. I like it best too. Thanks gals! Should I post my new work blouses too? LOL..JK!!!!

My machine

Here is my machine! My grandma had it for about 10 years, then she passed away 10 years ago. I would love a drop-in bobbin and some fancy stitches, but this one runs like a top! My DH promises'"One day......" but alas, that day is still very far off I fear!!

I am currently still making things for my Secret Pal so I can't post those, my shrug sits forlorn and untouched. I've started a baby blanket for a girlfriend. Ever need a change of pace?

Tag

Hi! I was tagged by Ashley and here are the rules. Now lets see if there are 7 interesting things about me.

The tag rules are:
1. When tagged, place the name of the person and URL on your blog
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write 7 things about yourself
4. Name 7 of your favorite weblogs
5. Send an e-mail letting those bloggers know they have been tagged
So here are 7 random things about me:

1. I was raised in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Even though I am blonde-haired, blue-eyed gringo. I can speak Spanish like a native and it always freaks people out.

2. I play the guitar. I play everyday for my students. You know what they say:"Music tames the savage beast."

3. I sang in a rock band in HS called "Snow Princess" 1 guess at who the princess was. LOL

4.I was married to my college sweetheart for 7 years before he decided he didn't love/want me anymore and left me with 2 toddlers.

5. I was a single mom for 3 years until I met my DH who is truly my best friend and perfect life partner.

6. I had Devin when I was 36 and Trenton at 38 to make a total of 4 kiddos!

7.In another life I want to be a meterologist/climatologist(so thrilling, I know! But what else am I going to do with over 60 college hours in that area?)

So there you are 7 facts!
I tag Olga, Aurora, Christina, Rose, Lesa,
Viller who wants to share!

Thanks for taking a gander!

Wow! I can't bellieve its been a week since I last blogged. I've got alot going on, but just not much to show for it.

My DH recruited me to make multi-purpose pillows for the RV. (See last post) Since space is going to be at such a premuim in this little camper we thought it might be a good idea to replace our sofa pillows with bed pillows , but put an upholstered slipcover on them that could be removed at night. Dual-purpose pillows!

I also have been working on my SP's package from the V'ille's swap. I should have it ready to go by Spring Break. I have made a bunch of stuff and one project that would even make Lesa proud. (I whipped it up on my machine!) Can't wait to post it! I hope she likes it.

The shrug that I am working on for me is coming along, but it keeps getting put down for all the other projects. I'm afraid it'll be to warm by the time its ready, maybe I should start on one in cotton and a lighter color.

Spring Projects.......

I'm Back!

WoooHooo! The computer is fixed. It took almost two weeks(sweat, sweat) but Its better and faster than before. I have several finished projects but they are all going to my Secret Pal at the 'Ville's swap. I hope she'll like them.

We only have about 2 weeks until Spring Break. I have so much to teach. I always start to get panicky this time of year thinking"OMG! Can I get it all in before summer?"

Here is the latest project my DH has undertaken. A new/used Rv. It used to be his folks, now we have joined the world of wanderers. I am still overwhelmed at the prospect of trying to "camp" and all that entails, but I'm willing to give it the ole college try. Wish me luck! Maybe I'll get to Yelly Stone or the Grand Canyon.
