Is the pattern worked in a spiral or do we join the last stitch to the beginning stitch when each round is complete?

Did that make sense?

You know, I bet it wouldn't matter, SmoothFox.

say, Kansas, if you make the legs thick enough, or make them rectangles and then roll them, you can put pipecleaners inside and then pose your spider!

On legs do the instructions sc 3 into 2nd chain from hook; repeat until end. fasten off mean to put three sc in the 2nd chain from hook and one in the remaining stitches or three stitches in remaining stitches

Anon- it means 3 sc in each ch space all the way down the chain; then just pull the yarn thru the last stitch. Let me know......

when i do the legs it comes out curly after sc 3 into 2nd chain from hook what do i do

Anon-that's what its supposed to be doing. The legs are one big spiral. If you put 3sc in each chain all the way down the chain, you should end up with one big corkscrew-looking leg. Keep me posted.....
